NCD Chronicles #11: Finding Hope in Motor Neuron Disease

The world’s most famous face of motor neuron disease - also known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis - is Prof Stephen Hawking. The world-famous astrophysicist and cosmologist defied the odds generally associated with MND, including a shortened life span and the progressive degeneration of motor function. Prof Hawking’s persistence and optimism in life is a characteristic shared by Albert Koo, a lawyer who was diagnosed with MND in 2018, but is continuing to live a full life.

On this episode of NCD Chronicles, we hear from Albert, as well as consultant palliative physician Dr Loh Ee Chin, about finding hope amid the diagnosis of a terminal disease. This episode is part of a series of monthly discussions on Health & Living, featuring various perspectives of living and dying well, in the lead-up to World Hospice & Palliative Care Day on 14 October.
