Climate Change and Government Intervention on Food Delivery

At the UN Climate Action Summit, we saw a lot of governments and companies pledge their commitment to their environment-related goals.

MESTECC Minister Yeo Bee Yin said that the government is looking to review its carbon emissions commitments under the 2016 Paris Agreement.

At the CIMB Cooler Earth Sustainability Summit, CIMB also launched its renewable energy financing for SMEs in Malaysia. This is in line with politicians and CEOs aligning the sustainability goals with their business and economic targets.

We speak to Marie Morice, Head of Sustainable Finance at UN Global Compact, about this development.

07:18 - Three ministries are forming a committee to look into the issues related to Foodpanda and the gig economy.

More than 200 Foodpanda riders staged a strike at the company's headquarters, urging the company to revert to the original payment scheme and threatened more protests in other states should the company refuse to address their grievances.

FoodPanda has responded ”that the company will monitor the new pay scheme that has been put in place in a few states before deciding if it can revert to the old scheme".
