Resurgence of Dangdut Music?

Gendang, mandolin, guitars, drum machines and synthesizers, dangdut music permeates the Indonesian soundscape from everyday streets, nightclubs, televised talent shows to even political rallies. Originating from Indonesia, dangdut is definitely living up to its name, the “music of the people”. This week, Tommy Pratomo of Sony Music Indonesia shares with us their latest endeavour, a new record label “Megah Music” that focuses on widening the development and growth of the dangdut music and gifted homegrown artists, building a platform and network to showcase their very own talent.
