Sim Tong

Sim Tong, Comedian

Sim Tong

We had a man whose wit and humour straddles a line that our political scene does so well. Very much so till most of his material is indeed about the special branch of political comedy! He’s name is Sim Tong and he wasn’t wearing yellow tonight.

Sim is an open mic regular in the Malaysian comedy scene. With three years under his belt, Sim has done something he’s been a big fan of ever since the days of Napster. He realised he has a knack for putting out funny punchlines in his old blogs; he one day watched Aw Young Tuck on stage for PJLA’s One Mic Stand. By the following week, Sim went on stage and killed it!

By day, funny enough, Sim is works for the property investment industry. All that comedy being suppressed deep inside probably cause him to make that leap forward for the stage and create bursts of laughter from his audiences. When he cracked jokes in front of the Bersih4 crowd, Sim was asked how many people did he performed to. Sim said “I would say about 300 people. But I'm gonna mark it down as half a million. It felt like I was talking to the whole Bersih crowd when I was up there.”

For the record, Sim score 14!
