Chin Yew, Illustrator/Artist

30-Dec-15 20:00

Chin Yew

When Chin Yew first picked up a pencil and started doodling in his school exercise books, something sparked inside of him that turned him into a famous illustrator and comic artist today. He was working a full-time job at the age of 24. But, he quit that to pursue his love for painting and he about 40 paintings in a span of 30 days for his 30dayartist.com project.

From that project, he was later inspired to create and release his first illustration book entitled, The Boy Who Loved Clouds. It’s about a boy’s dreamy, meandering road to spiritual discovery, self-awareness and out of a sinking dilemma as his fascination with clouds becomes a twisted, disturbing fixation.

Chin Yew has also worked on projects involving local celebrities such as Patrick Teoh, Amir Muhammad, Megat Ishak and Ming. His work has been recognized by Klue’s Blue Chili Award and Martell Rising Personality and he has won awards for them. In 2008/2009, Chin Yew decided to embark on a 5 year world trip that served as part work/part vacation. He went to countries like USA, Angola, Czech Republic, UK, Columbia, Germany and Belgium. Other than illustrating, he is also a filmmaker and he has done commercials whilst creating his own production company, 2Men Productions.
