Usually perceived negatively, gentrification is a complex phenomenon that transcends its traditional meaning — renovating an area in order to interest a more "refined" market. It's common these days to find the topic lurking around conservation projects where owners and developers struggle to strike a balance between both preservation and gentrification. Dr. Azizan Marzuki from Universiti Sains Malaysia joins us in this episode to figure out urban planning's finest puzzle.
