Researching The Hidden Narratives of KL

Kuala Lumpur’s strength as a capital city lies in the diversity of its communities, so it’s only natural for that to be reflected in its historical narratives too. We’ve seen the grand narrative of Kuala Lumpur slowly being contested by alternative origins, and while that is exciting enough, we should also start looking into smaller narratives from the grassroots for a sharper picture of our multilayered society. Simon Soon, a lecturer from University of Malaya, is currently doing that, and he joins us to share what he has found so far.
