Age Appropriate Culture

On this week’s episode we look into the topics of being out of touch with culture, how law and social systems govern our common sense and the boundaries of cultural appropriation. Uma slams Richard Brody’s scalding review of Avengers: Infinity War, while reflecting on whether in time he too would be as out of touch with culture as the medium gradually changes. Eddin scrutinizes how social systems and bureaucracies take away our ability to empathize with people of other backgrounds. Kam and the group discusses to what extent does exploring another person’s culture become cultural appropriation.
