Has The SPM Failed Our Young Or Has The Exam Become Irrelevant?

The Ministry of Education this week extended the registration deadline for the 2023 SPM exam, in the hopes of encouraging the 30 thousand students who skip their 2022 papers to retake the exam and obtain their certificates. Why have so many youths avoided this exam? Does the SPM certificate not hold any value for them? We speak with Chan Soon Seng, CEO, Teach For Malaysia to get some answers, and whether the problem is more structural than academic.
