Should Lawyers Be Barred From Working During MCO?

The Malaysian Bar has called on the government to provide leeway to law firms to operate during the MCO. Earlier this month, de facto law minister Dato’ Takiyuddin Hassan had asked law firms not to reopen during the MCO where all non-essential activities have to be paused.

Law firms as a category by itself have not been classified as essential services by the Health Ministry or by MITI. However law services can resume where they are part of certain other sectors that have been permitted to operate by MITI.

We speak to Salim for a clearer picture on how the MCO is impacting the legal sector.
