The US Federal Reserve has raised interest rates by a quarter percentage point making this its ninth hike since March 2022. and it also indicated that it may be near the end of its rate-hiking cycle. It also warned that the fight against inflation remains ongoing while assuring that the banking system remains resilient despite recent bank collapses. Vishnu Varathan, Head of Economics & Strategy at Mizuho Bank takes us through how markets reacted to these developments.
