Why Reform Parliament?

Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia has pledged to introduce several parliamentary reforms to improve the effectiveness of parliament. These four agendas are the introduction of “Minister's Question Time”, revival of the Parliamentary Service Act, having more parliamentary select committees, as well as a smaller second chamber as an alternative venue for debates.

We explore what these proposed reforms are and how they will impact the Dewan Rakyat, ahead of their planned introduction during next month’s parliament sitting.

This report is by Jason Lim.
