Recently, the government announced 53 measures to optimise public expenditure in view of the current challenging economic environment. They range from a freeze on civil service hires, to a cut in government-organised events and entertainment allowances. We take a look at how effective these measures will be and if they can help the government achieve its 3.1% fiscal deficit target this year.
