Live-In Maids - A Necessity?

Indonesia recently revealed that it is working towards imposing a rule which will require its maids working abroad to live separately from their employers, work regular hours, get public holidays and off-days. Its Ministry of Manpower says it will stop sending new live-in maids to foreign countries in phases, beginning next year. The move is part of Jakarta's plan to professionalise the informal employment sector, and protect its citizens from being exploited. Today, BFM explores the practicality of this move and how it will affect the domestic workers market in Malaysia.

This is a report by Shawn Tanis.
