Countdown Indonesia – Neck to Neck

Rivals in yesterday’s much anticipated Presidential campaign have both claimed victory based on quick-counts. But as veteran journalist Andreas Harsono explains in the last year, many polling organisations have emerged and it’s the mainly unaccredited ones which are claiming that Prabowo Subianto’s team is in the lead. Well-established pollsters however have called the election for Joko Widodo, Governor of Jakarta. But with official results expected only on July 22nd, Indonesia is facing a period of uncertainty. We ask for an assessment of the tense state of play.

This is a report by Aziff Azuddin.
