Top 5 at 5: What's the Solution for Penang's Traffic Woes?

We bring together two experts to discuss whether Penang's focus on large-scale infrastructure like flyovers and underpasses are truly the way forward to fix the states's traffic congestion.

Other stories we covered:

• Bung Moktar says make me Sabah's chief minister: “Why not try me?” was his message to voters in a KiniTV podcast. He also said he'd promise to fix power shortages and water supply issues, and even provide free education to Sabahans. But with a reputation of being a loose cannon with a history of bribery charges, can he make the cut? We reached out to James Chin, Professor in Asian Studies at the University of Tasmania for his outlook on Bung as a leader.

• ChatGPT introduces parental controls: After a lawsuit against OpenAI alleging that ChatGPT encouraged the suicide of a 16-year-old boy, the company has announced parental controls including linked accounts and "age-appropriate" responses. We hear from Kimberly Lee, managing editor of Makchic, and Mediha Mahmood, CEO of the Content Forum Malaysia for their thoughts on this move.

• China shows off weapons of the future: Underwater drones, anti-drone lasers and robot wolves paraded past 26 world leaders at a parade in Beijing, commemorating the end of the WW2. Peter TC Chang, the Deputy Director of the Institute of China Studies at Universiti Malaya, shares his thoughts on what China is signaling, and the limits of their military capabilities.

• TikTok causes bowel cancer?: A Boston gastroenterologist is urging the public to stop scrolling TikTok in the loo, after a study revealed that sitting for long periods of time on the toilet gives you a 46% chance of developing haemorrhoids or piles, even after factoring in age and diet. We discuss.
