Top 5 at 5: Top Scoring Students Plead for Citizenship

Despite being born or raised here and excelling academically, Virman, Keshwin, and Mathish are still stateless. Alongside Latheefa Koya from Lawyers for Liberty, they’re now pleading their case directly to the Home Minister. We hear directly from the students about their long journey through the system and the toll it's taken on their future.

Other stories we covered:

• Malaysians warming up to Anwar?: A new Merdeka Center poll shows a slight bump in support for Anwar Ibrahim and growing optimism about Malaysia’s direction. But for most people, stagnant wages and rising costs remain key concerns. Prof Ahmed Razman Abdul Latiff, economic analyst and MBA & DBA Programs Director at Putra Business School unpacks whether the Madani government's economic initiatives are on the right track.

• Malaysia needs more vets: Malaysia is facing a critical shortage of vets, with only half the professionals we need. Associate Professor Dr Mohd Farhan Hanif Reduan, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan explains why this gap exists, how it affects both animals and public health, and what can be done to fix it.

• New tariff, lower bills?: TNB says 85% of households could see cheaper electricity bills starting July. But the catch is: you’ll need to use less power. S. Piarapakaran, President of the Association of Water and Energy Research Malaysia, explains how the new system works and what it means for you.

• Greener goodbyes: From mushroom coffins to water-based cremations, sustainable funeral options are on the rise. With climate concerns extending to the afterlife, we explore what a greener goodbye looks like.
