Top 5 at 5: Stranger Danger? More like Scammer Danger

According to a recent report by the Global Anti-Scam Alliance (GASA), in Malaysia, one in five parents surveyed said at least one of their children had been targeted by scammers. We speak to Raymon Ram, Certified Fraud Examiner & Anti-Money Laundering Specialist, about this.

Other stories we covered:

• Govt bans nuclear weapons: This comes with recently-passed amendments to the Atomic Energy Licensing Act 1987 which punishes offenders with 40 years in prison, or even death. We speak to Dr Azrudi Mustapha, Deputy President of Critical Mass Malaysia, about whether this amendment interferes with the country's plans to pursue nuclear energy.
• Orang Asli protest deforestation: The Penan and Kenyah communities have sent a formal letter to Sarawak's Premier describing the deforestation taking place in Long Urun, Belaga despite repeated protests. Celine Lim, Managing Director of Save Rivers, shares her thoughts on the optics of the situation.
• Affordable insurance for the aged: The average entry age limit for insurance policies is between 60 to 70, which can be limiting for older adults in need of healthcare. We speak to consultant geriatrician Professor Dr Tan Maw Pin about what insurance for older adults should cover. We also ask Mark O'Dell, CEO of Life Insurance Association of Malaysia, about what the industry is doing to address the needs of older adults.
• Dato' Johan Ariff passes at 91: He was the designer behind the iconic logos of Petronas and Malaysia Airlines through his design and brand consultancy, Johan Design Associates. We discuss what it means for a design to become part of national iconography.
