Top 5 at 5: MMA's Push To End Doctors' On-Call Shifts

The President of the Malaysian Medical Association Datuk Dr Kalwinder Singh Khaira has called for an end to the 30 hour on-call shift hours for doctors, saying that this practice has tired them out and leads to a worsening of patient care. We speak to Dr Sean Thum, vice chairman of MMA SCHOMOS about this.

Other stories we covered today:

· 10,000 Signatures In Support of Senior Citizens Pension Scheme: Parti Sosialis Malaysia has gathered 10,000 signatures for this campaign, with a goal to secure a RM500 monthly pension for Malaysians above the age of 65. We speak to Dr. Michael Jeyakumar, the party's chairman, for his thoughts.

· Taman Melawati Landslide Incident: This happened following the torrential downpour yesterday, and caused some houses and vehicles to get damaged. The area is currently being monitored, and investigations are underway. We talk to Kennedy Michael, the Co-Founder and Communications Coordinator for Gabungan Darurat Iklim Malaysia.

· Budget Expectations for Orang Asli Community: We hear from two voices of the Orang Asli community about what their hopes are for this upcoming budget. Tijah Yok Chopil, chairperson of the Jaringan Kampung Orang Asli Semenanjung Malaysia and Jaidi Musa, a committee member of Persatuan Suku Jakun Pahang both share what they would like to see.

· Mini Popek Popek Parlimen: Today's session involved discussions about counter-setting syndicates, which are illegal methods to bring foreigners into the country. The MPs also discussed the issue of planes not turning up on time, and what would happen if airlines fail to meet required targets.
