Top 5 at 5: Is Tengku Zafrul Joining PKR?

There have been rumours that the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz will be joining PKR after his stint as senator ends in December next year. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has confirmed that discussions have happened. Needless to say, Umno has not received this news well. Oh Ei Sun, principal advisor of the Pacific Research Center of Malaysia weighs in on this.

· Cop gets exposed for lewd actions: A research assistant caught a police officer allegedly miming the gesture for oral sex repeatedly at the ‘Turun Demi Palestin’ rally outside the US Embassy in KL. We spoke to Alyssa Pong, All Women's Action Society's Assistant Advocacy Officer about what this incident reveals about trends among gender-based violence in Malaysia.

· TikTok temporarily bans Fahmi Reza: Graphic designer and activist Fahmi Reza’s TikTok account was banned and removed during his livestream of his Student Power lecture at the UM Campus due to alleged policy violations. His account was shortly reinstated. Zikri Rahman, research fellow of the Arts Equator Southeast Asian Arts Censorship Database Project and program coordinator for Pusat Sejarah Rakyat, for his thoughts on what happened.

· High suicidal rates for teens in high-density housing: Studies brought up by Deputy Health Minister Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni has revealed a link between teens in high-density housing areas and rising suicidal behaviours, spurring action plans to address this. For us to better understand this link, we spoke to developmental psychologist Dr Shue Ling Chong.

· ‘Rimbawan' township seen as threat to environment: RimbaWatch has expressed alarm over the planned 'Rimbawan' township in Pahang’s Gohtong Jaya, citing significant environmental and safety concerns. Adam Farhan, the Director of RimbaWatch weighed in.
