The kebaya is one of our most recognisable traditional attire but it’s more than just an outfit. It’s a reflection of the culture and traditions of different communities who wear the kebaya not just in Malaysia but across Southeast Asia as well.
So with the kebaya being recognised by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage, on today’s show we explore the unique elements of the kebaya, especially those worn by different communities in Malaysia, together with Cedric Tan, a Melakan Baba, culture enthusiast and advocate.
