This week, on Invisible Cities, Umapagan Ampikaipakan takes to you to Chile, to Santiago, to Valaparaiso, to El Quisco, to the three homes of Pablo Neruda, to tell you the story of his greatest love.
Invisible Cities is an all new series that seeks to take you on a journey to a different place, to a different time, to a different world, to one of those invisible cities that only exist within the pages of a good book.
Show Notes:
i) The Paris Review has what is, at least in my opinion, the best (and probably one of the longest) print interviews with Pablo Neruda. It's from the spring 1971 issue and you can read it here.
ii) For a great little sampler of Neruda's work, check out the links at The Poetry Foundation. There be poems, articles, and podcasts.
iii) There is a wonderful Italian movie called Il Postino in which a fictional Pablo Neruda plays Cyrano to a local postman. It's beautiful. It's poetic. It really is a must watch. Check out the trailer here.
