Borneo Fueled Melody

Hailing from East Malaysia, Borneo Art Forms Pioneer, Alena Murang, has learnt the traditional art forms of the Penan, Kelabit, and Kenyah people since the age of six, including singing, dancing, playing musical instruments, weaving, and design. Alena is also one of the first and few women to perform and teach a traditional lute instrument - the sape’. She strives to communicate her perspectives and advocacies through visual art, traditional craft-making and through her music with hopes to do her part in imparting social and environmental impact.
