 Management Fads and Fashion

There has been a proliferation of management techniques appearing in business literature. Some organizations feel attracted to adopt these latest management fads. Yet, the success rate in the adoption of many of these techniques are rather low. What is the value of these management fads? Should managers be concerned about them or can they just ignore these advancements? How does one discern between good management ideas and dubious fads? It is necessary for managers to recognize that the adoption of management ideas is not like changing attire. In fact, the adoption of management ideas is more like organ transplant that requires meticulous assessment and planning.
