HerVantage - Balo

Founded by Elisabetta Ravioli, BALO is a Children's educational charity in Kolkata, India. It provides free education, medical care and nutritious food to the children in need with the objective that these children move beyond their desperate slum conditions to a more secure future. Alongside that, Elisabetta realized that women’s role was still that of doing household chores and bearing children, missing financial independence and self esteem. Hence, she started a tailoring project for young mothers; training them to cut, stitch and embroider Indian cotton with Italian designs.
