Today, the 19th of August, was designated World Humanitarian Day by the United Nations to honour humanitarian personnel and those who have lost their lives working for humanitarian causes. This year, as the whole world grapples with the COVID-19 pandemic, the contributions of aid and health workers worldwide are more important than ever. To commemorate the day, we look at what humanitarian work involves, and how to pursue a career as in the field.
