Feed the Children Wholesome Meals

Opposition MPs are asking the government to resume the free breakfast programme for school children, which was first implemented in January 2020 by the former Patakan Harapan government. Initially the free breakfast programme was proposed for all students by former Education Minister Dr. Maszlee Malik to address malnutrition among children, but it later targeted only B40 students. When the Perikatan Nasional government took over, it put the programme on hold. We discuss why a government funded meal programme is important for all school children, and how it will benefit their growth and learning in the long run.
