Recently, the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) called out parody news account BerMANA.con for spreading fake news. On the surface, this may seem like a head-scratcher of a decision. After all, there is a difference between fake news and satire. However, given our current climate of fast-spreading fake news, the lines are starting to blur. We discuss the role of satirical news in today’s landscape.
