Xenophobia - Alive and Well in Malaysia

Xenophobia was at an all time high here in Malaysia in recent weeks, after it was announced that 1.5 million Bangladeshi citizens were set to come to our shores to work. We explore the vitriol that emerged towards our migrant workers with Dato Ramachelvam Manimuthu, the Chairperson of the Bar Council's Migrants, Refugees and Immigration Affairs Committee, who will share stories of the difficulties faced by migrant workers here in Malaysia. Also joining us is Dr. Goh Chee Leong, who will discuss his research in understanding the roots of inter-group prejudice and fear, in the context of Malaysians’ reaction to Bangladeshi workers.
