The Swiss Dual Education System

Hugo Sager, TVET System Specialist

30-Mar-17 15:00

The Swiss Dual Education System

Technical and vocational education and training, or TVET, has been a hallmark of Switzerland’s dual education system, which combines apprenticeships in a company with vocational training at vocational schools. We learn more about the Swiss model from Hugo Sager, who is in Malaysia at the invitation of the Swiss embassy to speak about the subject to various government agencies and the private sector. Sager’s work has been focussed on TVET since 1992, working on different projects in Asia and Africa, as well as supporting different Swiss government agencies and NGOs as a TVET system specialist.

Education is also a topic that will be covered during Swiss Week, a project run by the Embassy of Switzerland at the end of April. The event will cover many topics for Malaysians and Swiss expatriates in Malaysia, from economics and culture to gastronomy and education. Fourteen Swiss companies based in Malaysia will take part in the event where they will discuss their operations along with their roles and impact to the Malaysian economy. Head over to the Swiss embassy’s website for more information.
