In 2013, a study found that almost 60% of cubicle workers and 50% of open-plan office workers cited lack of sound privacy as a frustration, and noise has been repeatedly tied to reduced cognitive performance. Dr Nick Perham, a psychologist and Senior Lecturer of Applied Psychology has found that sound distractions impair workers’ ability to recall information and even to do basic arithmetic. He joins us to explain more.
