Mahi Ramakrishnan is a documentary filmmaker and her two films on the Rohingya refugee crisis are “Seeds of Hatred” and “Bodies for Sale.” Recently, she and her son started an online platform to match refugees seeking work, with employers willing to hire refugees. It’s called Refugees@Work. The first business to take up this offer is Sahana Banana Leaf, co-founded by Sathiyah Ettickan. We speak to both women about why this issue is close to their heart, the challenges of hiring refugees and their thoughts on the government’s recent pilot scheme to allow 300 Rohingya refugees to work.
