Friends of the Earth Malaysia, the environment group more popularly known as Sahabat Alam Malaysia (SAM), recently published a book titled “Penan Land Rights in Sarawak: 13 years after the Long Sayan Declaration 2002.” Jok Jau Evong, who coordinates SAM’s activities in Sarawak, explains the Penans’ decades-long struggle against logging and infringements on their native customary rights.
