History Textbooks and Sense of Belonging

On Saturday, October 22nd, a forum on "The Study of History: Its Relevance and Significance" will be held at Lecture Theatre A of Universiti Malaya. One of the topics that will be addressed is the role of textbooks in shaping a country’s national memory. Discussing this is  Associate Professor Helen Ting, who will be speaking at the forum and is also a political scientist at the Institute of Malaysian and International Studies at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

The forum is organized by the Association of Voices of Peace, Conscience and Reason (PCORE), and Universiti Malaya's Department of History. It is supported by the Malaysian Historical Society and the National Archives of Malaysia. More information about the programme can be found on PCORE's Facebook page.
