Can Paedophilia be Treated?

The revelation of British paedophile Richard Huckle raping and abusing up to 200 Malaysian children between 2006 and 2014 shocked the nation. But beyond putting Huckle behind bars for life, what else can be done to stop paedophiles before they abuse a child? A new research led by Dr. Christoffer Rahm, a psychiatrist at Karolinska Institute, is in the midst of a treatment study to test a drug which could potentially reduce the risk of individuals with paedophilic disorder from acting on their sexual urges. Dr. Rahm explains his project as well as the science and current research behind treatments for paedophilia.
