A decades-old rift exists between Native Americans and geneticists, traceable to a case in the early 1990s in Arizona in which scientists used genetic samples to test the theory that Native Americans originally came from Siberia. We use that as a jumping point to examine the relationship between the science of genetics and indigenous peoples.
