Air Retrieval Medicine

When a disaster strikes, one of the first on the scene will be the retrieval medicine team – the team of critical care specialists who respond in an emergency to ensure the stable transfer of patients to the hospital. In many situations, the transfer of the patients will involve air travel, and this is where specialists like Col (Rtd) Dato’ Dr Jaseemuddeen Abu Bakar and Dr Gunalan Palari Arumugam from the Society of Aeromedicine Malaysia come in. They join us to explain how they transport critically ill patients via air transfer.
