Dress Me, Address Me

“Intercultural” is a series of self-portraits by artist Sheinina Lolita Raj, which features her dressed in the authentic traditional costumes of various cultures, such as India, Mexico, Jordan, Greece, and Saudi Arabia. Featuring a quadrophonic sound art collaboration by singer/songwriter Nelly Furtado, the series aims to explore questions of ethnicity and race. During her recent visit to Kuala Lumpur for an artist talk, we spoke to Raj about her own experiences with identity and culture, and how these inspired her work.
