Arts Check-up #1: Performing Arts

With the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent need to avoid public gatherings, as well as the implementation of the Movement Control Order, performing arts activities in Malaysia have ground to a halt. This has affected not just planned performances and stagings, but in many cases, the livelihoods of many members of the local arts community. We speak with producer choreographer/arts educator Joseph Gonzales, ReformARTsi representative Junyi Mah, and Pusaka’s Pauline Fan, about the challenges being faced by cultural workers, what  needs to be done, and what the way forward might be.
